Cyber Security – Strategy and Services
ICT Security a.k.a Cyber Security
Cybersecurity aims to protect individuals’ and organisations’ Physical and Digital Assets against computer viruses, malicious software, ransomware, phishing attacks, denial of service and threats from unauthorised and/or unauthenticated users.
Why Cyber Security? From Business perspective:
- Cybersecurity is a business problem and yet accountability still lies primarily with IT function.
- Cyber-risk incidents can have operational, financial, reputational and strategic consequences for an organization, all of which come at significant costs
- Just imagine the cost of business down for 1 day
- Vulnerability to Cyberthreats are high because Digital is everywhere
- Attackers are becoming sophisticated – using Digital and AI to find and attack
- For unprotected Businesses, it is a matter of ‘When’ they will be attacked
- All size businesses are at risk of Cyber Attack
Cybersecurity is a ‘Choice’
- No such thing as “Perfect Protection”
- Higher Risk means lower cost
- Lower Risk means Higher Cost
- Goal is to Build a Sustainable Program
- Balance “Need to Protect” against “Need to Run” the business
- Focus on business outcomes setting right priorities with right investments
Our Approach: Security by Design, Guided by the NIST Cybersecurity Framework
We embed Security by Design into every new and existing service, ensuring risks are addressed from the start — not after the fact.
Our approach follows the trusted NIST Cybersecurity Framework, built around five essential functions: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, Recover.
Beyond technical security, we empower your organisation to strengthen Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) functions — essential for meeting regulatory expectations and building operational resilience.
We also help you prepare for and meet the requirements of cyber insurance, giving you greater confidence in your overall risk posture.

Identify – Develop organisational understanding to manage cybersecurity risk to systems, processes, assets, data, and capabilities.
Protect – Develop and implement appropriate safeguards to ensure delivery of services.
Detect – Develop and implement appropriate activities to identify the occurrence of a cybersecurity event.
Respond – Develop and implement appropriate activities to act regarding a detected cybersecurity event.
Recover – Develop and implement appropriate activities to maintain plans for resilience and to restore any capabilities or services that were impaired due to a cybersecurity event.
Every 6 minutes, an Australian business is hit by cybercrime.
Is yours protected?
Cybercriminals target small and medium businesses precisely because most don't have adequate defences in place. With the Privacy Act, the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and tightening cyber insurance requirements, the cost of doing nothing has never been higher. Digital Enact helps Australian SMEs build real, ASD-aligned protection — without needing an in-house IT team.
Free initial consultation · No lock-in contracts · Response within 1 business day
One incident every 6 minutes. Average cost $46,522. And that's before the Privacy Act fines.
The Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme requires any business covered by the Privacy Act 1988 to notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) — and every affected individual — if a data breach is likely to cause serious harm. That includes a compromised email account, exposed client records, or a ransomware attack that accessed personal data. You have 30 days from becoming aware to notify, or face penalties on top of the breach itself.
For Australian SMEs, this is no longer a distant risk. Business Email Compromise (BEC) is consistently the most financially damaging cybercrime category for small and medium businesses in Australia — exploiting exactly the gaps that a basic antivirus and a shared password spreadsheet can't close.
The ASD created the Essential Eight because basic antivirus isn't enough. Most Australian SMEs aren't implementing it.
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) developed the Essential Eight — eight prioritised mitigation strategies that, when implemented correctly, make it significantly harder for most cyber threats to succeed. They're the baseline the Australian Government uses to assess cyber maturity, and they're increasingly referenced in cyber insurance underwriting in Australia.
Without the Essential Eight in place, your business remains exposed to ransomware that encrypts your files and demands payment, business email compromise that redirects your invoices, and credential theft that gives attackers access to everything. If you're using Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace without proper hardening, you may already be exposed in ways you can't see.
"Business Email Compromise cost Australian businesses hundreds of millions in reported losses — and it exploits exactly the identity and email security gaps that Essential Eight strategies E7 (MFA) and patching are designed to close."
Essential Eight aligned protection — backed by a vetted partner network, without the enterprise price tag.
